New format. New destination. For the first time four Spanish clubs will compete for the Supercopa de Espana trophy. The best four teams for the last season fight for the first trophy in this year. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia will meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in two semi-final games on Wednesday and Thursday, while the final clash will be held on Sunday.
Why Jeddah? Simply, because of the money. Spanish Football Federation will earn 40 million euros for this football show, and Real Madrid and Barcelona could earn 11.5 million if they win the trophy. The clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona (Thursday) is already sold out, and for the Real Madrid and Valencia (Wednesday) meeting only 10 thousand tickets remain on Tuesday.
Real Madrid went to Saudi Arabia without injured Bale, Hazard and Benzema, while Valencia will not have their striker Rodrigo Moreno.
