The Dutch and former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Gini Wijnaldum has fractured his tibia and will undergo surgery after just one game for his new club Roma. Jose Mourinho’s team faces months without a new signing from PSG, who came on loan this summer. Wijnaldum sustained a horror injury during training on Sunday, preparing for the Monday Italian Serie A clash against Cremonese, in which he was expected to start. It is very likely that the Dutch international will miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar in November. Roma have not stated how long the former Liverpool star is expected to be out.
Georginio Wijnaldum has been capped 86 times at the Netherland’s national team, and played 38 times for PSG last season, but was rarely used for the Champions League.
