Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce confirmed on Monday that his defensive duo will miss the remainder of the season because of injuries. Jetro Willems sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury, and Paul Dummett could face surgery on a tendon injury. Willems was injured in the game against Chelsea on Saturday, while Dummett was withdrawn during the clash at Wolves, a week ago.
Jetro Willems has scored 2 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season, and Paul Dummett is without a goal in his 16 league appearances. Newcastle United suffered even nine injuries over the Christmas period, and at Merseyside against Everton on Tuesday night will also miss Dwight Gayle (9/0 forward), Yoshinori Muto (7/0 forward), DeAndre Yedlin (11/1 defender), Ki Sung-Yeung (3/0 midfielder), Javi Manquillo (11/0 defender) and Jack Colback (0/0 midfielder), with uncertain status of Andy Carroll (13/0 forward).
