Another huge injury blow for Roma this season. After a horror injury of the Dutch and former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Gini Wijnaldum in August (fractured tibia), Jose Mourinho lost one more regular player. Paulo Dybala scored the penalty winner in the league clash against Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening when felt a problem with his left thigh, which lead directly to the substitution and tears in his eyes when he reached the bench. Roma’s boss Jose Mourinho confirmed after the game that it is unlikely Dybala will play again in 2022.
“Unfortunately, it’s very, very bad” – said Mourinho.
In the coming days, Dybala will undergo further tests to assess the extent of his injury. This injury will probably leave the Argentinian attacker out of World Cup in Qatar in November. Dybala is currently Roma’s top scorer, with five Italian Serie A goals in eight games this season.
