Neymar stretched off with serious injury against Lyon. The Brazilian star received a dangerous challenge from his compatriot Thiago Mendes, who was shown a straight red card and sent off the pitch.
Paris Saint-Germain have been knocked off of top spot in Ligue 1 after a 1-0 loss at home to Lyon on Sunday. Tino Kadewere scored the only goal of the game in the first half at Parc des Princes and PSG could not find a way back into the match.
The victory allowed Lyon to steal the second spot from Thomas Tuchel’s side in the league table.
But there could be bigger ramifications later on as PSG risk losing a key player after Neymar was stretched off with a serious ankle injury.
Neymar’s ankle injury could cause him to miss the rest of the season.
Both teams finished with 10 men as PSG were unable to replace Neymar having already made all five possible substitutes before the incident.
The French champions still have three Ligue 1 games before the winter break, a clash with Lorient at home and a decisive away-match against the title rivals Lille and later on Strasbourg.
Jurgen Klopp’s team is struggling with a big nightmare this season. Liverpool stars are getting injured one after another, and it has become very difficult for the German coach and his team due to their tight schedule in several competitions.
The last injury of the Reds was the Portuguese star, Diogo Jota. The player suffered a knee injury during Liverpool’s Champions League match against Midtjylland and left the pitch to raise concerns about his health.
In this regard, in the past few days, English sources claimed that Jota’s injury was more serious than expected and that the player will probably be out of action for two months. Now Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the bad news and announced ahead of tonight’s match against Fulham that the Portuguese striker will be out for six to eight weeks due to a knee injury.
“Yeah, it’s worse than we first thought and better than we then thought,” Klopp told the reporters.
“All the potential surgeons had a look on it, no surgery needed. But he will be out for a while. We don’t know exactly but one-and-a-half, two months. We don’t know exactly. It’s pretty similar with Kostas Tsimikas, by the way. Unbelievable.”
