Red or blue. United or City. The great rivalry of two giants from the same town. On Tuesday, Manchester United and Manchester City fight for the 180th time, in the first leg of Carabao Cup semi-final, at “The Theater of Dreams”.
Their first-ever clash took place in 1881. Since then, United and City have played 179 games in all competitions, with 74 wins of the Red Devils, 53 victories of the Citizens and 52 draws.
What about form? United have two losses in the last five matches, but also have 13 consecutive home games in all competitions without a loss. In the last eight clashes at Old Trafford, United have scored a total of 22 goals, having conceded only 6. On the other side, City have scored 23 goals in the last eight games in all competitions, with 7 wins and a single one loss.
This season, United managed to defeat City on their Etihad (2:1) in December, but in their last two mutual meetings at Old Trafford, City achieved two victories.
Regarding absences, guests are pretty carefree, while Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has several injured players, but also a few regulars with an uncertain status.
