Newcastle Jets, the last-ranked team from the Australian A-League, fired head coach Ernie Merrick (66) three days ago. Merrick took charge of the Jets in 2017. and led them to the Grand Final in 2017/18 season. This term, Newcastle Jets have poor results and performances, and at the moment are in the row of five games without a win, respectively they have a single point from the last five matches. Also, their defence is worst in Australia top-flight division.
Newcastle Jets will be led by the tandem of Craig Deans, the club’s W-League head coach, and Qiang Li, A-League assistant.
