Players Expected to Leave Manchester City Over the Coming Weeks

Manchester City has tremendous talent to worry about, but they also have unforeseen problems that may make some big names leave their club. Some players could be leaving City in the next few weeks which may influence betting guides for the people and sportsbooks around the world.

It’s not necessarily a comprehensive list, but it should give an idea of players who could be looking for new clubs over the coming weeks. Below is a list of Players expected to leave Manchester City over the coming weeks:

Fernandinho

Fernandinho’s contract expires in June, making him the most probable player to depart City this summer. In the end, the 36-year-old was able to extend his deal with the club for another year, and a similar deal might be on the table for this season.

Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain are said to be keen on keeping Fernandinho at the club for the 2022-23 season, and a player-coaching position may be given to the veteran midfielder.

Fernandinho has completed 373 appearances for Manchester City since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, earning four Premier League championships, six EFL Cups, and one FA Cup.

Gabriel Jesus

Before, Gabriel Jesus was expected to be the next Sergio Aguero, but now he prefers to play on the wing rather than in the center of the City attack. Jesus has mostly rotated this season with Riyad Mahrez on the right side.

Even though the 24-year-old striker has established himself as an essential part of the Citizens’ attack for several seasons, his lack of regular first-team action in recent months has created doubts about his long-term future under Pep Guardiola.

There is a possibility that Jesus’s time at the Etihad Stadium may end with the introduction of a new number nine, Erling Braut Haaland, and the entrance of Julian Alvarez in 2022-23.

Jesus’ contract expires in 18 months, and while City is interested in renegotiating it, another source claims that Serie A heavyweights Juventus are planning a summer bid to sign Brazil international.

Bernardo Silva

It has been widely reported that Bernardo Silva would like to exit the Etihad Stadium this summer because of the coronavirus effect on his mental health.

Manchester City’s outstanding player this season, the Portuguese playmaker, has scored ten goals and provided four assists in 38 games in all competitions.

When asked about his plans for the future, Bernardo, 27, said he plans to speak with the Citizens about extending his contract, which expires in June 2025.

If you’re a Manchester City fan and want to see their silky star stay at the club, you’ll naturally be concerned about his long-term prospects.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has been a first-team regular for Manchester City this season after a time out of the starting lineup toward the back of last season, sparking doubts over his future. Sterling has since scored 14 goals and registered five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

However, with fewer than 18 months left on his contract, the 27-year-long-term old’s future at the club will be questioned again this summer. He has previously stated that he would be “open” to a move overseas, and Barcelona is considered one of the clubs interested in him.

Guardiola has already stated how essential the attacker is in his first-team squad, despite the signing of £100 million man Jack Grealish last summer. A contract extension, though, cannot be ruled out.

Scott Carson

With his contract expiring in June, it’s unclear if Etihad’s backup goalkeeper Scott Carson would agree to an extension. There have only been two senior outings for Manchester City since he arrived from Derby County in August 2019.

These include a 17-minute cameo off the bench in the goalless draw with Sporting Lisbon during the Champions League earlier this month.

Carson is a powerful impact in the City locker room with his lack of playing time, which might persuade manager Pep Guardiola to extend his contract.

The departure of these prominent players will create more space for Mancity to strengthen its squad by signing other top targets. With Haaland already signed, Mancity is now the favourite for the English Premier League, having won the previous season’s title.

How will Pep plan his squad? Well, we can tell in time!
