Olympiacos Piraeus terminated the contract with head coach Kestutis Kemzura on Sunday. At the same time, the Greek basketball giant announced the appointment of their old coach, Georgios Bartzokas, with a two and a half years deal. Bartzokas led the club to its most recent EuroLeague title, in 2013.
Bartzokas last coached Khimki, and he also guided Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, Maroussi Athens, FC Barcelona, Olympia Larissa and Panionios. He led Khimki to the EuroLeague playoffs in 2018, and with Lokomotiv reached EuroLeague Final Four in 2016. This season Olympiacos have only 7 wins after 18 EuroLeague rounds, with just 2 wins in the last 7 games.
